We service all brands of pianos including Steinway, Yamaha, and Baldwin, and Kawai. Customers will sometimes ask me, "What is the best brand of piano." I don't really have a favorite brand. There are a lot of good brands on the market, along with some really bad ones. Whatever the brand, I am sure I have serviced one over the past 30 years or so. Whether you have a grand or vertical, old or new, we can make sure it's the best it can be.

Thinking of buying a used piano? You may want to give us a call before you do. Often when I go to tune a piano that someone "got a great deal on" I find that it's not able to be tuned. This could be because the tuning pins have gotten too loose over the years to hold the tremendous tension on the strings. Other things that could cause a piano to not hold a tuning include a cracked pinblock or a cracked bridge. Most people are aware of what a cracked soundboard is. but most aren't aware of the bridges and pinblock. The pinblock is the wood that the pins are driven into. It is usually made of laminated maple. It's a very strong block of wood but it it is cracked the piano will not be able to be tuned. If this is the case, someone has spent a lot of money to move a piano that is simply not usable. While some pianos are worth installing a new pinblock, some just aren't. We can help you by educating you on the different aspects of what to look for in a used piano. It can be a daunting task to research used pianos and try to find a good deal. Let us help you. We will guide you every step of the way so that you can be sure that you made a wise purchase.

Are you aware of Standard Pitch? Piano Service Center will always tune your piano to A440. This is standard pitch. It simply means that the 4th A on the piano is tuned to 440 cps, or cycles per second. This is important because it's what all other instruments are tuned to. If you play another instrument or sing with the piano they will need to be together. Another factor is the tension on the case of the piano. It is designed to hold the strings at A440 so when it falls flat or goes sharp it just doesn't want to hold it's tuning. You can read more in the service pages.
